Lifestyle in early Singapore

This source is a picture of gold ornaments that are dating from the 14th century. This source tells us that the locals in Temasek were rich enough to afford gold as gold was expensive. These gold ornaments are used for religious purposes as the armlet is designed as Kala, the Hindu god.

This source shows a variety of spices. These spices are traded by people from other countries when they came to Singapore. The locals traded with the foreigners as they used spices to cook their food. This shows that the locals were rich enough to trade spices. They also knew how to enjoy tasty food.
